This spring we are pleased to announce our new collaboration, Bowhill & Elliott x Anya Hindmarch. Featuring two of our signature velvet slippers silhouettes, it’s fair to say we were pleased as punch with this project. The Bowhill & Elliott and Anya Hindmarch story started in 2022 over email, bonding over a love of all things British, luxury and of course velvet slippers. When the opportunity came about to be part of Anya’s permanent concept store, The Worlds Smallest Department Store, in her Chelsea village, we jumped at the chance.

The Worlds Smallest Department Store is a new concept that harks back to the heyday of the traditional British department store, one that as you can imagine we feel right at home in. When it comes to the store, the clue is in the name, small but mighty, think ‘Are you being served’ vibes in the heart of London, with of course the perfect touch of nostalgia thrown in. You’ll find TWSDS next door to the Anya Cafe, which we must say serve the most delicious slice of coffee & walnut cake. The perfect pit-stop after a spot of velvet slipper shoe shopping don’t you think? Across the road you’ll find the Anya Hindmarch Labelled store, dedicated to the art of all things organisation is also worth a visit. But of course the store we are most excited about is the one that exclusively stocks the collaboration, that’s right you can only find the velvet slipper collection in-store at TWSDS.

As with all things Anya the attention to detail is second to none. The clue is in the name, the store is small but mighty, from the brass counter bell, the clever but classic luxury products all with a Anya twist, we are mildly obsessed. With that in mind we are thrilled to be chosen to be part of the line-up of beautifully British-crafted luxury products.

Plain velvet slippers V’s Opera Pump

The collaboration features two of our signature velvet slippers, classic Bowhill & Elliott silhouettes but with a Anya twist. This is just the beginning, we can’t wait to share more soon. But first up let’s introduce the two styles exclusively available at TWSDS. It was important for us to showcase our signature house shoe, styles we are best known for; the Plain Velvet and the Opera Pump. Both of them are made-to-order styles, with the plain Albert made with plush coffee velvet and teal quilt lining, it’s an elegant take on a velvet slipper you won’t want to miss. Not just for evening, the plain Albert is a great option for dates, weekend brunch and work.

Is your diary getting booked up with Summer soirees? The Opera Pump should be on your radar then, look out for the teal velvet and matching quilt lining combination. Hand lasted in our Norwich workshop, decorated with a matching teal handmade grosgrain bow, it’s a showstopper.  Step out in these Opera Pumps, it’s the shoe option to turn to year after year for black-tie, garden parties and everything else in between. Cut from a single piece of velvet and traditionally made with a low cut vamp, the glamorous style means they can be worn with trousers or a long cocktail dress. When you need to elevate your evening look, step forward the Bowhill & Elliott x Anya Hindmarch Opera Pump. But the women of Bowhill & Elliott HQ also favour them dressed down with blue denim and a cashmere jumper for an easy weekend outfit.
