Getting the Right Fit

If you have purchased a pair of Bowhill & Elliott slippers then please make sure you try them on a carpeted floor as any marks may affect potential returns.

The sole unit will be rigid when new, resulting in movement at the heel when first worn.

Gently flexing the sole at the widest point and pinching the heel counter together will help to achieve a true fit.

If you have purchased a pair of Goodyear Welted shoes from one of the brands we stock then please try on the carpet and wear for 20 minutes before deciding on the correct size, as returns must be sent back in re-sellable condition and not worn outside.

The true fit of a welted shoe is after 15/20 wears, once they have broken in and taken the shape of the foot, please bear this in mind when deciding on the fit.

Taking Care

All good quality footwear must be kept in wooden shoe trees when not being worn, and should have at least 24hrs rest in between wears.
To keep velvet slippers at their luxurious best use Saphir Renavatour spray to protect and renovate. A good horse hair brush is a must to keep the knapp well groomed. We recommend Saphir Blond coloured horse hair brushes as you must ensure you do not use the same brush for your polished shoes as your velvet slippers.

Returns Policy

Bowhill & Elliott offer a 28-day full return policy on all items ordered (except monogrammed or styles that have been customised).

The goods must be returned in the original packaging and in pristine condition. Please ensure to only try on a carpet and not on hard or wooden floors, as this will mark the soles resulting in a return request being declined.

If you are returning the item by post then we recommend using a recorded postal service to ensure the safe deliver of the return.
If you are returning from outside of the UK then clearly state GOODS BEING RETURNED TO SENDER – NO DUTY DUE, as any duty charges will be deducted from your final refund.
