We’re delighted to showcase this iteration of Sebago's iconic Portland boat shoe, an American classic now gracing our British shores. This iteration beautifully melds Sebago's rich artisanal heritage with the timeless tradition of sailing, making it a perfect companion for the discerning gentleman who seeks both style and substance.

The Martellato is crafted with a premium full-grain leather upper, adorned with a hammered finish that is as resilient as it is refined. Each pair bears the mark of skilled craftsmanship, featuring a hand-stitched apron that is as pleasing to the eye as it is testament to the shoe’s durability. Square-cut leather laces weave their way along the sides, a nod to the shoe’s nautical roots, while the 360° rawhide lace system ensures a snug and secure fit. Every detail is meticulously crafted to harmonise style with functionality, echoing the elegant yet enduring nature of British craftsmanship.

Whether you find yourself traversing the cobbled streets of the city or strolling along our picturesque British waterways, the non-slip rubber sole ensures every step is taken with confidence. It moves gracefully with the foot, offering optimal grip on all surfaces and making the Martellato as versatile as it is stylish.

Step into our store and experience this version of the Portland boat shoe for yourself - a seamless blend of American craftsmanship and British elegance, ready to accompany you on every journey, both nautical and terrestrial.

About Bowhill & Elliott

Bowhill & Elliott are a small, family-owned business with a fascinating history in shoemaking and manufacturing, crafting the finest footwear for over 150 years.

Established in 1874 in Norwich, England, as a bespoke shoemaker, we evolved into a dedicated slipper manufacturer in the 1960s. Our historic home at 65 London Street, Norwich, England, remains the same address where Obadiah Bowhill first set foot over the threshold, all those years ago

From bespoke shoemakers to a global brand, Bowhill & Elliott has become synonymous with exceptional quality, worn by everyone from royalty to music icons.

Situated in the Norwich Lanes, our four-floor building embodies our heritage. We continue to ‘make out the back, sell out the front’ with retail space, our newly renovated slipper lounge, office space and two workshops at the heart of our operations. In our workshops, eight skilled shoemakers, meticulously craft each pair by hand, using the same time-honoured techniques passed down through generations. Every detail including intricate embroidery, is carefully executed by hand using traditional gold work techniques that combine wires and threads to create unparalleled depth and beauty.

The home of the house shoe, whether it’s our handmade velvet Albert dress slippers or hard-soled Grecian loafers, the craftsmanship in every pair is unmatched.
