Description
Introducing the Sonning, part of the Exclusives collection, Crockett & Jones for Bowhill & Elliott. A two-tone kiltie loafer in polo suede/ivory leather made on the 375 Last, in the Crockett & Jones Northampton factory.
A Made-to-Order style from Crockett & Jones - a genuine show stopper. The beauty of being a small family independent is you can sometimes do things just for the fun of it, not led by current fashions and trends. Crockett & Jones Sonning is the perfect example of this. Born from our MD's apparent 'need' to have a pair in his personal collection, a dive into the Crockett & Jones archive, and voila, we present the Sonning. ThIs two-tone kiltie loafer represents something special- authentic craftsmanship meets playful design.
The Sonning isn't about understated elegance alone - it's about celebrating the joy of exceptional footwear. Goodyear welted with the Crockett & Jones SUPERFLEX leather sole, the Sonning delivers exceptional comfort and durability, with every step. When you choose the Sonning you embrace the confidence that comes from wearing a shoe with real character and heritage.
Bowhill & Elliott have proudly stocked Crockett & Jones footwear in our Norwich store since the 1940's, highlighting our special relationship with Northampton's finest shoemaker and underpinning our commitment to supporting premium British manufacturing.

Bowhill & Elliott are a small, family-owned business with a fascinating history in shoemaking and manufacturing, crafting the finest footwear for over 150 years.
Established in 1874 in Norwich, England, as a bespoke shoemaker, we evolved into a dedicated slipper manufacturer in the 1960s. Our historic home at 65 London Street, Norwich, England, remains the same address where Obadiah Bowhill first set foot over the threshold, all those years ago
From bespoke shoemakers to a global brand, Bowhill & Elliott has become synonymous with exceptional quality, worn by everyone from royalty to music icons.
Situated in the Norwich Lanes, our four-floor building embodies our heritage. We continue to ‘make out the back, sell out the front’ with retail space, our newly renovated slipper lounge, office space and two workshops at the heart of our operations. In our workshops, eight skilled shoemakers, meticulously craft each pair by hand, using the same time-honoured techniques passed down through generations. Every detail including intricate embroidery, is carefully executed by hand using traditional gold work techniques that combine wires and threads to create unparalleled depth and beauty.
The home of the house shoe, whether it’s our handmade velvet Albert dress slippers or hard-soled Grecian loafers, the craftsmanship in every pair is unmatched.
