This colourway of Repello suede is tanned to be water repellent. Fully treated with ‘Scotch guard’ during the tanning process, the material achieves an exceptionally high level of water resistance to water and oil based substances. This proofing remains effective throughout the life of the footwear
Made in England Crockett & Jones Chiltern is a chukka boot made from Repello snuff suede and Dainite sole. Made on the handsome 224 last (watch this space for the exclusive Crockett & Jones Wensum sharing the same last shape) that dates back to the golden era - 1953! A soft round toe, this shape 'fits' most feet, only enhancing its reputation as one of the easiest boots a man can wear. Repello snuff suede has been tanned to be water repellent. Fully treated with ‘Scotch guard’ during the tanning process, the material achieves an exceptionally high level of resistance to water and oil based substances. This proofing remains effective throughout the life of the footwear, but should still be replenished from time to time. Completely dispelling the myth that you shouldn't wear suede in the rain!
Crockett & Jones Chiltern is Goodyear welted, a traditional shoe manufacturing construction favoured by English shoemakers, allowing for multiple resoles. Repair not replace is the key to enjoying this style for many years, being the ultimate in sustainable footwear.Bowhill and Chukka Boots
Much debate surrounds the origins of the Chukka boot, associated with Polo players, and most likely coming to prominence from the British army’s time in India in the late 1930s, when the classic Desert Boot rose in popularity.
Chukka boots, much like Chelsea boots, have a strong connection to sport and equestrian lifestyle, offering unrivalled versatility . Bridging the gap between formal and casual effortlessly, no wonder it suits our Norwich shop so well.
Bowhill & Elliott have proudly stocked Crockett & Jones footwear in our Norwich store since the 1940s, highlighting our special relationship with Northampton’s finest shoemaker and underpinning our commitment to supporting premium British manufacturing.
