Whether you call them a leather house slipper, indoor slipper or the traditional Turn slippers, we have you covered at Bowhill & Elliott. We have been making our house slippers, in our Norwich workshop for over 150 years and continue to maintain many of the original shoemaking practices, such as clicking, turning and lasting all by hand.
Did you know house slippers have long been part of Norfolk's shoemaking history? Let's take it back to the 16th century, a style of slipper called the Turn slipper, were introduced to the county by the large group of 'Strangers' that settled here. Specialising in weaving and shoemaking, the Strangers shared their knowledge and all these years later we are still making our Turn slippers by hand in our Norwich workshop.
Throughout our 150-year history, we have seen some styles of our leather house slippers become favourites of our discerning customers. This is never truer than with our collection of soft-sole Turn slippers. We like to think of it as where elegance meets comfort – an intersection that isn't often enjoyed. Discover the perfect shoe to elevate your working-from-home attire or maybe to gift to a slipper enthusiast. With a choice of over 20 different options, whether its from our Made-to-Order collection or our in-stock, the choice is endless.
So what is a Turn slipper we hear you cry? Think comfort yet sophisticated, the perfect pair to potter around in at home. Whether it's one of our Harris Tweed®, deerskin leather or suede options, every pair is handmade in our Norwich workshop. Designed to keep all the stitching on the inside, resulting in an invisible seam at the sole. These indoor slippers are elegant yet practical, don't you agree?
